It’s Always Something New

It’s never the same out there on the roads/trails and I think that’s one of the best parts of this sport.

I spent the last week in California and I got to enjoy new rides and meet new people.  One of the days I was fortunate enough to meet up with a road group ride.  I only had the mountain bike so I pumped up the knobbies and prepared to suffer.  We got to ride on some of the most beautiful roads I’ll ride all spring, including Highway 1 along the coast.

Disclaimer: Photos are going to be doing most of the story telling for this post

Group Ride in Marin

Rolling Green Hills

Highway 1

Windy Road Ahead

These don't exist in Colorado

These (oceans) we don't get to see very much in Colorado either

I could ride here every day

My trip to California included mostly awesome trails, filled with tacky dirt and good times.  I was riding in rolling green hills, redwood forests and everything in between.

Banana Slug! This thing was as big as my hand.

The scenery was beautiful today.

Miles of trail like this makes for a good time.

Oranges in the front yard of the house where we were staying.

Super Bowl party on my Frontier flight.

I spent one of my days on Mt. Tam., where mountain biking began.  Unfortunately I was greeted by many of these signs:

You know I usually like to take my bike out for walk, I left its leash at home in Boulder though. I guess I wouldn't have been able to use it anyway.

But I still got to see some good views, found some wildlife, and got in quite the workout hammering up fire roads.

Mt. Tam.

This is the first chain I've broken in over a year. Left the chain pin at home. I set the chain-less downhill speed record off the top of Mt. Tam.

Coyotes playing in the trail

Bobcat chillin' on a rock. I didn't get too close.

A view from the top of Mt. Tam.

That about sums up my California trip.  Here’s a photo dump of a few of my recent rides in Boulder.

On the road with Chris.

Katie and I made it out for a night ride! She was excited.

Some days it's just cold and wet.

A view from home

All of these rides made possible by eating as much of this stuff as possible.

Carbs.

Yum yum. Honey Stinger.

Rocket Power

That’s all for now.  Hope you enjoyed the photos.  Happy riding.
